Officials and employees of Local Government Engineering Directorate Kishoreganj office have formed a human chain to protest the attack of miscreants on Golam Yazdani, Project Director of Chittagong City Corporation and Executive Engineer of LGED and demand immediate exemplary punishment of the attackers. The human chain was held in the office premises on Monday afternoon.
Under the chairmanship of Amirul Islam, executive engineer of local government engineering directorate, Kishoreganj, senior assistant engineer Habibullah, assistant engineer Abul Hasan Shovan, Shahriar, Kaushik Basak, deputy assistant engineer Abdul Malek Siddiqui, accountant Alamgir and many others spoke in the human chain.
The speakers in the human chain said that on Sunday afternoon, the project director and LGED executive engineer Md. Ghulam Yazdani was suddenly attacked and physically bribed by around 20-25 contractors in his room while performing official duties.
The engineers in the human chain raised several demands and said that all those guilty should be brought to justice and punished for physically insulting Executive Engineer Ghulam Yazdani in a completely illegal manner and the contractors involved should be blacklisted for life along with license cancellation. Justice for the attacks on LGED engineers in the past days across the country must be ensured. LGED field level engineers should provide round the clock gunmen for security assurance to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. Executive Engineers should be given magisterial powers.
