Several thousand people of four unions under Chuadanga sadar upazila formed a human chain in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner on Sunday noon in protest against including those unions under newly formed Darshana Police station.
After the human chain programme, the organisers handed over a memorandum signed by several hundred people through the Deputy Commisisoner to the Prime Minister.
Participants in the human chain informed, since the formation of Chuadanaga district, the unions Begumpur, Titudaha, Goraitupi and Nehalpur are included under sadar police station of Chuadanga district. However, recently, those four unions have been included under Darshana police station. The protested the decision of the government to include those four unions under Darshana terming Darshana as a region infested with drugs and said, by no means they want to include under Darshana.
The human chain programme was addressed, among others, by Habibur Rahman, Ashraful Haque, Shamim Hossain Miji and Abdur Rahim.
