Human chain against excessive bus fare in Madaripur

In Madaripur, the locals have organized a human chain to demand the withdrawal of unreasonable rent. Local leaders including people from all walks of lives, social workers, dignitaries joined the human chain. A human chain was held in front of Majidbari (Bhurghata) Press Club on Dhaka-Barisal highway on Sunday.

It is learned that thousands of commuters of Madaripur district have to pay additional 48 km of road rent for going to Dhaka by bus. Again, they have to pay the rent of Barisal without taking the rent of Madaripur from any city of the country including Dhaka. That is why the general public has to bear the burden of extra fares and the bus owners are misappropriating crores of Tk every year.An hour-long peaceful human chain was held in front of Majidbari (Bhurghata) Press Club on the Dhaka-Barisal highway around 11am on Sunday demanding withdrawal of the unreasonable fare. Hundreds of people took part in it. At that time, the local law enforcement forces were on high alert to prevent any untoward situation.
