Eshika received the award for her outstanding performance in the musical film Kajolrekha, directed by Giasuddin Selim.
The film’s music director Emon Chowdhury composed seven songs performed by Eshika. Her voice and performance in the songs were highly praised by both audiences and industry insiders.
The jury board for this year’s awards included noted Nazrul Sangeet singer Ferdous Ara, playwright-director Zinat Hakim and dancer Munmun Ahmed, among others.
They appreciated Eshika’s versatile performance in Kajolrekha, calling it a promising start for a young talent.
‘Receiving an award for playback singing as a debutant is a dream come true for me. I performed seven songs in this film, and this recognition will inspire me to work harder in future,’ said Humaira Eshika after receiving the award.
Besides playback singing, Eshika has also gained popularity with her recent solo track Moner Kinaray, released on her YouTube channel. The song received good response from contemporary music lovers, boosting her confidence as an emerging artiste.
Eshika first came to the limelight through the popular reality show Channel i Khude Ganraj 2016, where she secured a position as a finalist. She officially began her music career with a duet titled Onek Bhalobashi alongside Mahtim Shakib, composed by Adib Kabir.
Her first solo track Ovimani Chata, tuned by Shovon Roy, won her the Best Emerging Artiste award at the 18th Sunsilk-Channel i Music
