The Hult Prize competition has always been one of the most highlighted competitions among
international students with amazing change-making business ideas, and Hult Prize at BUBT has
just finished organizing the grand finale of the Hult Prize On-Campus Program 2023, where the
winner is one step closer to getting the opportunity to represent their idea on an international
platform.
With the intriguing theme "Redesigning Fashion," this year's Hult Prize aims to find the solution
on how to give fashion its urgent makeover through launching an innovative and profitable social
venture in the clothing and fashion industry to make it more sustainable in every positive way.
Total 38 teams had come up with their best solutions in this year's on-campus program, and
eventually three of them made it to the Grand Finale with their dedication and hard work. The
"Hult Prize at BUBT On-Campus Program 2023" took place for the fifth time in the International
Conference Hall of BUBT, and the organizing committee had arranged the whole event
successfully and managed it smoothly from start to finish.
The event was endowed by the esteemed presence of the honorable guests and judges. The
special guest was Prof. Dr. Md. Ali Noor, Pro Vice Chancellor of BUBT. He was amazed with
the presentation of the finalists and encouraged everyone to be participants in this type of
competition in order to achieve all those skills that they lack. The guest of honor was the Vice
Chancellor of BUBT, Professor Dr. Muhammed Fayyaz Khan. He congratulated the finalists for
their valuable ideas and thanked all the participants, audience, and sponsors. He also motivated
everyone to try to do something meaningful that could employ ten other employees. Faruk
Sarker, lecturer in the Department of Accounting; Md. Razib Sheikh, assistant professor in the
Department of Textile Engineering; Omar Faruck Ansari, assistant professor in the Department
of Marketing; Md. Zakir Hossain, assistant professor in the Department of Finance; and Md.
Aslam Uddin, assistant professor in the Department of Marketing, were the honorable judges of
this year's on-campus program who enlightened all three teams with their valuable feedback and
insights.
The finalists kept the audience engrossed and interested throughout the event through their
diverse range of ideas presented in a concise manner. The 2nd runner-up was BUBT
TEXSTARS, the 1st runner-up was PIONEERS, and finally, the winner of the championship title
"HULT PRIZE at BUBT 2023" and Tk 10,000 is "Team Believers." Their winning idea was the
project called "SPROUT," which is an eco-fashion brand that will produce clothing made from
agricultural waste. This innovative and sustainable approach to fashion can help reduce waste
and lower the negative environmental impact of the fashion industry. Now they will have the
honor to represent Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) at the regional
summit to get to the accelerator program and then take their idea one step closer to winning the
global reward of $1 million.
The Hult Prize competition is beneficial for both sides. The world gets the solution to the planet's
most pressing issues through social entrepreneurship, and students get to be a part of the largest
social impact movement, achieve university merits and an authorized certificate from the United
Nations, explore the world of business from experts, etc. Every year, the organizing committee
of the Hult Prize at BUBT and honorable faculty members do their best to acknowledge the
students about the importance of this competition and inspire them to participate in order to gain
tactical knowledge and efficacious experience. This year was no exception, as the overwhelming
number of participants proves. By keeping up with progress, BUBT can reach more creative
minds each year and pave the way for creating ideas to make changes in the world that matter.
