The form fill-up procedure for the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) examinees in 2021 will start online from June 29 and will continue till July 11, despite the uncertainty over conducting the examination amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
This information has been given in a modified circular signed by Dhaka Education Board's examination controller SM Amirul Islam. It was later published on the board's website.
It was informed in the notice that the ‘possible list’ with the data of the students will be published on the board’s website on June 28. Therefore, candidates will be able to start filling up their forms on June 29.
Earlier, it was decided to start the form fill-up from June 27.
There will be no selection test examination before this year's HSC examination and therefore, educational institutions can charge no fee in this regard, the notice says.
It said that the fee has been fixed at Tk 2,500 for the students from ‘Science’ while Tk 1,940 for ‘Humanities’ and ‘Business Studies’. Respective institutes or colleges cannot ask for more than the determined fee from the students. If they do, punitive legal action will be taken including the suspension of the form filling panel of the college.
Moreover, only students with valid registration can apply, and those who are seekinggrade improvement in one or more subjects also do not need to participate in any test examination. If a student participates in the examination in a subject outside his or her registration, it will be suspended without any notice.
It was not possible to take the HSC exam last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, HSC candidates in the year were assessed on the basis of JSC and SSC examination results. This year, the Ministry of Education plans to take the exam on the basis of 84-day lesson plan.
However, the government has not yet made a final decision on whether to allow the educational institutes to open as the situation has not improved up to the mark.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Dipu Moni said recently that alternative arrangements are being considered if it is not possible to take this year's SSC and HSC examinations in a short syllabus.
