HSC examinee’s body recovered from river

The body of Al Farah Shoaib, a missing college student, has been recovered after he jumped out of a boat with his friends at Jhampa Baor in Manirampur upazila of  Jashore. 

Fire Service diver Humayun Kabir recovered the body on Friday morning.

The deceased Al Farah Shoaib, 18, is son of Shahin Hossain of Old Kasba area of Jashore town and an HSC examinee of Jashore Government City College.

Upazila Nirhahi Officer (UNO) of Manirampur Syed Zakir Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam and relatives of the deceased were present at the time. Earlier, the fire service divers started the rescue operation on the second day from 9.30 am on Friday. After searching for about three hours, they found Shoaib body.

 Manirampur Fire Service and Civil Defense in-charge Abdul Aziz said that the body was found 100 hands northeast of where the boy had jumped. “We took the body to the hospital. The police have taken the body there,” he said. 

OC of Manirampur Police Station Rafiqul Islam said that 16 college students from a coaching center in Jashore came for a picnic on the west bank of Jhampa Baor near Rajganj Bazar on Thursday morning. Then they all boarded the boat and set out on a left trip. When the boat reached near Rajganj Secondary School, Shoaib, Tanmoy and Rifat jumped out of the boat into the water.

Among them, Tanmoy and Rifat returned but Shoaib went missing.

Upon receiving the news, members of Manirampur Fire Service Unit went into the water with the locals took part in the work from 3.30 pm. They carried out the rescue operation till 6:30 pm on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a video of the three friends jumping out of the boat has spread on social media Facebook. It shows Shoaib, Tanmoy and Rifat undressing while having fun with their friends. Later, laughing, they jumped into the water one by one.
