HP team leave for Australia

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) High-Performance team left for Australia on Saturday at 1:30pm to play two four-day and as many 50-over matches and aTwenty20 tournament, which will include Pakistan Shaheens and three Big Bash teams.

BCB HP will begin their campaign with taking on Pakistan Shaheens in the four-day matches, scheduled to start on July 19 and July 26. 

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) earlier announced three different squads, captains for different format on last Wednesday for their tour of Australia to play two four-day matches two ODIs against Northern Territory and Pakistan Shaheens, respectively before a T20 tournament involving Pakistan team and a Big Bash team.   

The four-day squad will be led by Mahmudul Hasan Joy when the team included Shahadat Hossain Dipu, Shadman Islam, Rejaur Rahman Raja, Hasan Murad, and Mukidul Islam Mughdo. 

The 50-over team will be led by Afif Hossain, with Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shamim Hossain, Akbar Ali, Abu Hider Rony, and Rakibul Hasan included in the squad and Akbar Ali will lead the T20 sides with Tanzid, Parvez Hossain Emon, Afif, Ripon Mondol, and Ariful Islam picked for the squad among others.

The HP team will play two 50-over matches in a tri-series with Shaheens and Australian side Northern Territory on August 1 and 6. 

Then, the team will play at least six T20s against Shaheens, three Big Bash teams, and two local teams on August 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 17. 

Four-match lead leader and the pening batter Mahmudul Hasan Joy hoped that their tour to Australia as part of the High Performance (HP) Unit will help them prepare better for a two-match Test series in Australia in 2027, according to their Future Tours Programme (FTP) schedule. 

“It’s an important tour for us, especially since we have a Test series in 2027 in Australia. I think this tour will serve as a good preparation for that series,” Joy said before leaving for Australia with the squad on yesterday.
