The housing construction for indigent freedom fighters began in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha district. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Al- Maruf formally inaugurated the construction work at south Dhumatari village under Dahaband Union on Tuesday afternoon as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took initiative to construct houses for the needy freedom fighters across the country. Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Walif Mondal said in first phase, as many as 12 houses are being constructed for the impoverished mfreedom fighters of the upazila at the cost of one crore, 59 lac and 50 thousand Taka.
