A housewife was killed allegedly by her husband for dowry at Majheeali village in Monirampur upazila of Jashore district on Saturday night. Police also arrested her Husband in this connection. The deceased was identified as Lipika Das, 26, wife of Bijoy Das of the village.
She is the daughter of a Pagol Das in Khatiakhali village of Keshabpur upazila of the district. Bijoy Das is the son of Dhiren Das of a Majheeali village. He is professionally Butcher. Family sources said she was married to Bijoy Das six years ago. The couple has two children. After their marriage, Bijoy Das often tortured Lipika Das for dowry.
Following an altercation over the issue on the night, Bijoy beat up Lipika mercilessly, leaving her dead on the spot at 12.10 am, said victim's Brother Sahdhon Das. Bijoy killed her and hung the body by the house roof. Bijoy did not tell us about the death of Lipika. he added. On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Lipika’s family filed a case with Monirampur Police station, accusing Bijoy. Monirampur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Shikdar Matiar Rahman said, police recovered the body and sent to Jashore general Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police also arrested victim's husband after a case had been filed with the police station.
