A housewife allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Santhia, Pabna. The incident took place on Wednesday evening in Kalaichara village of Santhia municipality.
Deceased identified as Moina Khatun, wife of Chandu Mollah, a farmer ofPunduria village in Karamja union. Police recovered the body on Thursday morning and sent it to Pabna morgue for autopsy.
According to family and police sources, Chandu Mollah left his wife and daughter Maya at home on Wednesday afternoon to sell muskmelons. After a while, their daughter went to bring some fish from her uncle’s house.
However, when she returned home, she saw her mother’s body hanging with a scarf around her neck. Hearing her daughter’s scream, neighbours tried to rescue Moina but she died before they could take her to the hospital.
Chandu Molla said that they had no quarrel or disagreement in their family. He does not know why his wife committed suicide.
Santhia Police Station OC Aminul Islam said that, “I primarily think that the suicide took place due to mental illness. The body has been sent to Pabna morgue for autopsy.
The core reason of the suicide will be known after we receive the autopsy report. However, no complaint has been lodged so far.” He further added, he would take action subject to investigation if any complaint was lodged.
