Houses for cleaning workers are PM’s gift: DSCC Mayor

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas commented that the houses allotted to the clean workers of the corporation are a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

This was said by DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Taposh during the ceremony of handing over house allotment papers and keys to 170 cleaners in Shapla, Shaluk and Palash, the newly built 10-storey cleaners residence No. 14 in Nagar Bhaban premises on Thursday.

DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Taposh said, "Today we have allocated houses to 170 people. Although this house allocation is under the Dhaka South City Corporation, it is actually a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Because the basic policy or law for allocating these houses is regular officials, senior officials. And for employees. But Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina realized that we have a large number of cleaners -- Harijan, Muslim, Telugu, Manami community -- who are low-income and have no shelter, so she constructed buildings through the City Corporation to accommodate them. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made arrangements for this residence and addressed you in the mother's mercy."

DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Taposh said that the housing problem will be solved in phases, "Our houses are being constructed under some projects. The construction work of some buildings has been completed and the construction of some houses is ongoing. After the construction of the ongoing buildings, we will allocate them in phases. Our Some of the houses allotted to Telugu community are also vacant. I have directed the allotment committee to complete the availability list soon and allot them to the Telugu community. And today there are 120 houses left in the 3 buildings allotted. Still those who are really needy. There are workers, those who have not yet -- they can apply. We will allocate the remaining 120 houses within this year."

Barrister Sheikh Taposh, Mayor of DSCC, instructed to report any wrongdoing anywhere, "if any wrongdoing is noticed, report it to the authorities, report it to us.
