A fire broke out at Abdul Monaf Miaji's house in Chhotkamaldaha Maizgaon area of Wahedpur Union in Mirsarai, destroying two six-room dwelling shops.

The blaze broke out in the early hours of Saturday (January 15). The victims are claiming that about 8 lakh Tk including cash has been destroyed.

Maulana Abul Hussain said that the fire started from an electrical short circuit on Saturday morning and in a moment the flames of the fire spread around.

About 8 lakh Tk including mobile phones, furniture, documents, gold ornaments were damaged and 8 rooms including the kitchen were burnt to ashes in the fire. Locals managed to bring the fire under control after trying for 1 hour.

A team of Mirsarai Fire Service arrived on the scene after receiving the news of the fire but due to the presence of gate bar on the road, the fire service vehicle was delayed in reaching the spot. Imam Hossain Patwari, an officer of the Mirsarai station of the fire service and civil defense, said, "I rushed to the spot after receiving the news of the fire."

There was a slight delay due to the presence of a gate bar on the way to the scene. We initially thought the fire started from an electrical short circuit.
