The diabetic patients have been getting all kinds of supports including treatment from Chuadanga Diabetic Association recently. At present, a diabetic hospital is demanded here for the diabetic patients.
It is learnt, ECG and HbA1C tests are done in the association. About 60/70 diabetic patients are being treated here daily.
About 22,190 patients were given outdoor treatment here from January 2019 to May 2020. A total of 21, 260 diabetic patients were registered with the association for getting treatment from August 1998 to May 2020.
Diabetic Association arranged medical facilities, pathological test and suggestion of diet through diet chart.
According to the sources, Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman and Dr. Nahid Fatima Rotna, Medical Officers have been working for treatment of diabetes, dermatology (skin and sexual disease), asthma, and gynecology.
Umme Atika Mollik Akhi, Dietitian and Health Educator, has been working for giving diet chart to the diabetic patients and delivering speech about nutrition of the diabetic patients.
One administrative officer Firoj Al Mamun, social welfare officer Jannatul Ferdous Torndra and other 15 personnel work in the association for diabetic patients.
Riazul Islam JoarderToton, President of Diabetic Association said once upon a time there was no treatment of diabetic patients in the district town.
The association started diabetic patients' treatment in the district town in 1998. The association is well known among the people of Chuadanga for its positive activities.
He further said, “We are trying to set up a Diabetic Hospital in the district town but want of sufficient fund it is not possible to start it at once. Now we are giving treatment through the association only.”
He also stated that Solaiman Hoque Joarder Selun, MP, is assisting for development of the association's activities and advising for establishing the hospital.
Adv. Shamsuzzoha, General Secretary of the association said to Bangladesh Post that the patients had been coming for diabetic treatment from remote areas of the district. The poor and destitute persons are being tested diabetes frequently free of cost and at concession rate.
General Secretary Adv. Joha also said about 136 elites of the areas are enlisted life members in the association.
Sumia Khatun, a diabetic patient of Dakkhin Haspatalpara in the town said that she had been undergoing treatment in the association for 6 years. She follows the prescription of medical officers and diet chart of Dietitian. Now she is well.
Diabetic patients of Chuadanga demanded to establish a Diabetic Hospital under the auspices of Chuadanga Diabetic Association and concerned authorities.
It may be mentioned here that the executive committees' office bearers are Riazul Islam Joarder Toton-President, Fozlur Rahman-vice president, Sayeed Asaduzzaman-vice president, Adv. Mohmmad Shamsuzzoha-general secretary, Shahidul Islam Shahan-joint secretary, Adv. Aksizul Islam Roton, treasurer.
The executive members are Shadul Hoque Mollah, Azad Malita, Adv. Wahiduzzaman Bula, Adv. Rafiqul Islam, Kohinur Begum, Mofizur Rahman Mona, Syam Sundar Agarwala, Dr. Fokir Mohammad and Ali Reza Sozol. Most of the members of executive committee meet with patients and staffs for acknowledgement of problems and later they solve those.
Knowledgeable persons urged upon the concerned authorities to establish Diabetic Hospital at Chuadanga through the guidance of Chuadanga Diabetic Association.
