Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday asked for the countrymen’s vigilance against recurrence of violence waged by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami during 2013-2015 killing some 500 innocent people and wounding over 3,500 others in the name of so-called ‘movement’. The premier said while addressing an exhibition and discussion on the 2013-2015 nationwide violence when BNP and Jamaat waged a violent anti-government campaign enforcing a countrywide blockade.

A video documentary titled ‘Woe of fire-terrorism: partial scenario of BNP-Jamaat’s fire-terrorism, anarchy and human rights violation’ was screened at the programme organised by the Awami League at the National Museum auditorium in the capital.  The victims and family members of the deceased recalled the horror of petrol bomb attacks, sharing experience of terror, agony and loss with Sheikh Hasina. They also demanded exemplary punishment to the BNP-Jamaat culprits for killing and injuring innocent people by resorting to nationwide inhuman attacks.

The pro-liberation forces must

work for the betterment of the

 country and thwart anti-state

conspiracies unitedly

Like the Pakistan military junta in 1971, country’s people witnessed the BNP-Jamaat launched petrol bomb attacks. After assuming power in 2001, BNP attacked houses of Awami League leaders, activists and supporters and conducted inhuman torture including rape like the Pakistani occupation forces of 1971. They (BNP-Jamaat alliance) did it time and again during 2013-15 (in the name of a movement to oust the AL government).

It has been noticed that the anti-liberation and communal forces along with BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami get active across the country ahead of the country’s every national election.

Like in the past, the BNP-Jamaat alliance is now desperate to pull back the country to turn Bangladesh into a new Pakistan again, but we believe country’s people would not let that happen.

We people imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War have to remain alert against the communal forces so that they could not create any unwanted situation in the country. The pro-liberation forces must work for the betterment of the country and thwart anti-state conspiracies unitedly. We believe there would be no compromise with the descendants of the anti- liberation forces as they are out to hatch a conspiracy to grab the state power through clandestine alleyways instead of standing beside the people during this global crisis.

Therefore, all must pay heed to Sheikh Hasina’s call to resist any kind of terrorist activities of BNP-Jamaat on the soil of the independent Bangladesh country.
