Hong Kong's Lingnan University willing to partner with Bangladesh

Lingnan University in Hong Kong expressed interests to initiate course exchange, exchange of curriculum, exchange of students, sharing of expertise, mutual recognition of the certificates, scholarship and so on between the Lingnan University and similar university of Bangladesh.

A delegation from Lingnan University in Hong Kong visited Ms. Israt Ara, the consul general of Bangladesh in Hong Kong.

The delegation members, including Dr. Albert Ko, Director, Ms. NG Aik Min, Senior Project Manager and Dr Jasper VAN HOLSTEIN, Associate Programme Director of the Lingnan University of Hong Kong along with a group of students. 

While highlighting the glorious history, culture, tradition of Bangladesh, the Consul General also briefed them about the present socio-economic development of Bangladesh under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

She also shared the success stories of Bangladesh in different sectors such as ICT, innovation, health, climate change adaptation etc. She also put importance on mapping the practical knowledge-based projects according to the need of the local community.

The Consul General also opined that this sort of programme will create opportunities for exchanging students and collaboration among the universities of Hong Kong and Bangladesh.

Prof Albert Ho informed the Consul General that they are working with the inclusive business programme and requested to assist in printing these programmes in the social innovation projects.

Later, the students and the officials of the said University visited the “Bangabandhu Corner” of the Consulate. A short video clip regarding the archeological attractions, tourist attractions, art and culture of Bangladesh was played.

It may be mentioned that the Lingnan University partnered with an institution named BOP Innovation Center in Bangladesh and they’ earlier conducted a workshop on Inclusive Business in February 2023 at their University.

As a continuation of the workshop, selected students from Lingnan University will attend a study trip in Bangladesh from 10 to 18 June 2023. During this trip, the students will attend several workshops regarding inclusive business programmes.

They will explore the business markets in Gazipur and Saidpur, Bangladesh. From this study visit, they are willing to gather knowledge on inclusive business cases as well as sustainable business innovation. The Lingnan University team expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Consulate of Bangladesh for arranging the introductory session for their students prior their visit.
