With a heavy heart, Muslims all over the world pay their deep homage to Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala who were brutally killed in 680 AD and recall their sacrifice. In order to establish truth and justice in society, he (Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA), his family members and followers had set the supreme example for the Muslim Ummah by sacrificing their lives.

The Holy Ashura is a significant and mourning day for the whole Muslim Ummah. All should realise the sanctity and significance of the Holy Ashura and reflect it in their personal and social lives and contribute to building a peaceful society.

The Muslims across the country are set to observe the Holy Ashura today (Wednesday), commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), with religious fervour and solemnity. Today is the 10th day of the month of Muharram in Hijri calendar.

On this fateful day in the Hijri year of 61, Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad  (Peace be upon him), along with his family members and 72 followers, embraced martyrdom at the hands of Yazid’s soldiers on Karbala maidan in Iraq to establish truth and justice and uphold the teachings of the Prophet.

All should realise the sanctity

 and significance of the Holy

Ashura and reflect it in their

personal and social lives

Besides, this day brings a unique opportunity of getting closer to Allah and attaining taqwa (fear of Allah). The almighty Allah always tests our patience when we are in trouble.

All should come forward to help each other with patience and tolerance during the ongoing global crisis. All must take lessons from Hazrat Imam Hossain’s (RA) ideals and devote themselves selflessly in serving the country as the supreme sacrifice still remains as a glorious event in the world history.

The tragic incident of Karbala maidan always encourages us to be vocal against any injustice, repression, oppression and misrule and lead the life in the path of truth and beauty. As Islam is a religion of peace and harmony, there is no room for confrontation, jealousy and greed. We hope the lesson of Ashura will act as the source of inspiration for all to spread the light of truth and beauty.

Being imbued with the spirit of the holy Ashura all will be inspired to establish social and religious values, truth and justice at the national level. Therefore, on this day, we are seeking divine blessings from the Almighty Allah for the continuation of our country’s peace, progress, and prosperity alongside greater welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
