Thousands of tourists are still flocking to the beaches in Cox’s Bazar and other tourism spots in the district to celebrate their Eid holidays.
Even rainy weather and Met office forecast cannot deterring them to enjoy their hours at the seaside. Each and every point in the coast is overflowing with tourists. Other than the sea beaches, Inani rocky beach, tourist spots like Dariyanagar, Himchari, Dulahazara Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park and Ramu Buddhist Temple are also seeing increased numbers of visitors in this time of the year.
Cox’s Bazar Additional Police Super Md Ikbar said that strict security measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the tourists. Plain clothes officers have been assigned to all the tourist spots in Cox’s Bazaar. He added that there are over 500 hotels, motels and guest houses which have the capacity to house over 3 lakh tourists. 3 non-government life guard organizations have issued over a 100 life guards in the beaches to make sure that no accidents occur.
Cox’s Bazaar District Administrator Md Kamal Hossain said that a mobile court is working in the beach and surrounding areas to prevent harassment of tourists. Some tourists said that they came in Cox’s Bazar to enjoy Eid festival despite a warning signal 3 issued for the district and some other parts of the country.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra were advised to hoist signal number 3 as deep conviction was taking place over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country. “Deep Convection was taking place over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh. So maritime ports are advised to hoist local cautionary signal no. three,” said a met office weather bulletin on Friday. The authorities followed the advice and hoisted the cautionary signal no three at sea beach.
