Holidaymakers returning to capital after Eid vacation

Holidaymakers have started returning to the capital after celebrating the Eid-ul-Fitr with their near and dear ones. As the Eidvacation was over government and private organization employees joined their respective workplaces on Monday. 

As the government and private offices reopened on Monday after the Eid holiday pressure of passengerswas witnessed at the Kamalapur railway station since morning. 

With the progress of the day,the passenger pressure was increasing. Sadarghat launch terminal was flooded with people returning to Dhaka since dawn. Early in the morning launches from the southern part of the country arrived on time.

Meanwhile, people are returning to Dhaka also by bus. Despite the rush of commuters, passengers are returning to Dhaka comfortably as the highwayswere congestion free.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister ObaidulQuader on Monday said that this year’s Eid journey was comfortable. 

He made this remark after exchanging Eid greetings with officials at his office at the Secretariat on Monday. 

He said, “There was apprehension about BRT project on Gazipur route. But people had been able to travel unhindered. As the home-bound journey was comfortable, return journey will also bethe same.”

“Road accidents were less before Eid, but accidents increasedon return journey. We have ensureddiscipline on the highways. I hope our people will be conscious during return journey to avoid any untoward incident,” he added.  

“This Eidjourneywas a comfortable journey as people made it possible by their combined efforts,” he added further.

However, the capital city is still wears a deserted look. Although people have started returning, the streets are still quite empty. There is no traffic jam except at few places. Despite the reopening of offices and courts, the atmosphere of Eidstill persists as all the workers did not return to their work stations.
