Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Singh said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has floated the hill region in the tide of development. He said, the hill region is no longer a backward area. The hill region is now the wealth of the country. Like the plains, the people of Chittagong Hill Tracts are now playing an equal role in the development of the country. Addressing the concerned, he further said that our ongoing projects should be completed within the stipulated time. So that we can say to the Prime Minister that we have completed the responsibility given to us correctly under your guidance.
Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Singh said these things in the chief guest's speech at the ADP implementation progress review meeting in the meeting room of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday. Hamida Begum, Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs chaired the meeting.
Regarding the recently successfully completed Hill Fair, Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Singh said that the Ministry's Secretary, Additional Secretary, Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board, Hill Three District Councils and other subsidiary organizations have completed the work of the fair very beautifully, successfully and attractively. He thanked those concerned for this. Addressing the officials of Hill District Council, Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board, he said, the waist loom cloth, garlands, cottage industry, handicrafts of the hill region are very beautiful. The quality of these is quite good. People should plan for its branding. Mixed arranges training for farmers on mixed fruit orchards, cotton cultivation and sugarcane cultivation has been implemented. The minister said that this year's mountain fair was enjoyed spontaneously by people from different parts of the country.
In the meeting, construction of 03 cold storages in three hill districts, activities of sustainable social service project in Chittagong Hill Tracts, mixed fruit cultivation and spice cultivation project in Chittagong Hill Tracts, project to provide sustainable social services in Chittagong Hill Tracts, increase of cotton cultivation in Chittagong Hill Tracts and poverty alleviation of farmers, hill Poverty alleviation through coffee and cashew nut cultivation in Chittagong region, electricity supply (2nd phase) through installation of solar panels in remote areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts were discussed.
