Hijacker kills trader in city

A small trader was stabbed to death in Sayedabad area of the capital Dhaka early Sunday.

He was identified as small trader Mosharraf Hossain, 45. He was a resident of Ghuntighar area in Gandaria. He hailed from Gopalganj district.

The incident took place near Hanif flyover at Sayedabad around 4:30am, police said.

Hijackers reportedly stabbed Mosharraf Hossain leaving him critically injured. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty doctors declared him dead at 5:30am.

According to the victim's nephew Shah Jamal, some rickshaw-pullers found Mosharraf lying near the Hanif flyover on a pool of blood and took him at his house.

Later, Mosharraf's relatives rushed him to the DMCH.

The hospital police outpost in-charge inspector Bachchu Mia said several injury marks were found in Mosharraf's chest.

The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

No case was filed and no one was arrested till filing the report at around 5:45pm Sunday.
