Bangladesh registered 50 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Tuesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 13,222 with the latest figure.
The country recorded 3,319 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 833,291, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.
This is the highest number of infections recorded in 53 days.
The death rate now stands at 1.59 percent in the country, added the release.
The number of fatalities has declined slightly while the number of infections has increased significantly compared to a day earlier. The country recorded 54 deaths and 3,050 infections on Sunday.
The current positivity rate stands at 14.27 percent and the overall positivity rate is 13.40 percent.
Among the 50 deceased, 30 were men, and 20 were women. Of the victims, 48 died in different hospitals of the country, one died at home and one died on the way to hospital.
15 each of the deceased were from the Rajshahi and Khulna divisions, six each from Dhaka and Chattogram, three each from Mymensingh and Sylhet, and one each from Rangpur and Barisal divisions.
A total of 23,265 samples were tested across the country till 8am Tuesday.
During this period 2,243 Covid-19 patients have recovered. A total of 771,073 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 92.53 percent.
As of Tuesday, 3,828,480 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 177,058,825 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
