Helping hands amid COVID-19

The government has enforced a series of complete lockdown to prevent the coronavirus from spreading in communities. The move, however, turned out to be bane for many while boon for some. Low-income people, the poor and underprivileged, are suffering most in absence of work amid the nationwide shutdown. In this situation, politicians, social workers and general people from upper society are distributing food supplies to stimulate the nation's economy and help poor people amid an unprecedented global crisis. The relief materials were distributed on Friday and Saturday.

Faridpur: VGF’s rice was distributed to the council premises on Saturday under the management of the Sadar Upazila Administration in Faridpur. UP Chairman Mehdi Hasan Mintu distributed the relief supplies to more than 250 families of the union. The food items include 8 kgs rice, 1 pumpkin and 1 kg of pulse.

Manikganj: Social activist Marjan Nun Nahar Lipi distributed food to around 500 people who have been left with no work amid COVID-19. Zila Parishad Chairman and Awami League President Golam Mohiuddin, General Secretary Abdus Salam and Joint Secretary Badrul Islam Khan were present during the distribution of the relief on Saturday.

Netrokona: To support poor families back home who have been financially hit hard by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, food items were distributed in Netrakona Attapara. Roknuzzaman Rokon, secretary of Upazila Jubo League, handed over rice, pulses, oil, soaps to 150 people at Mansurpur on Saturday. The relief was distributed on behalf of Netrakona-3 constituency and Central Awami League Culture Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil.

Tongi (Gazipur): Relief items were distributed to ultra-poor people in Ershadnagar, Tongi on Saturday. Gazipur Metropolitan BNP Joint General Secretary Ziaul Hasan Swapan distributed relief to the family at the local Raushan Ershad Government Primary School ground. Tongi East Thana Chhatra Dal Presidential candidate Ahsan Habib Sohel and Ramzan Ali Babu were also present.

Kendua (Netrokona): Professor Apu Ukil delivered food items among the poor of Digdaier ward at Kendua Municipality-4. Municipal Awami League President Kamrul Hassan Bhuiyan and Upazila Youth Women's League President Kalyani Hassan distributed these food supplies at Digdaier's Government Primary School premises.

Sarisabari (Jamalpur): To aid the ultra-poor in their time of need, Mizanur Rahman, president of Upazila National Journalist Association and representative of Bangla TV, at his own initiative, distributed food items to more than 150 families on Friday and Saturday. These were distributed at Tarakandi Government Primary School and Chechiabadha Government Primary School grounds of ward no-1 of Pogaldigha union in the upazila.

Dhamrai (Dhaka): Relief items have been distributed to 1500 helpless and unemployed people of Amata Union of Dhamrai. On Saturday, Amit Hossain, a leader of the Amata Union Awami League leader at the Jethile School grounds in Dhamrai, distributed the necessary supplies from his private fund. Bilal Hossain, an advisory member of the Dhamrai Upazila Awami League and Zahirul Islam Jewel, director of the Pyramid Group, were also present.

Kachua (Chandpur): UP chairman Imam Hossain Sohag distributed food items to 375 families in Kachua. The reliefs were distributed on Saturday in presence of Tag Officer Subhash Chandra at 4no. Palakhal Model Union.
