A Dhaka Court on Saturday placed Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mufti Monir Hossain Kashemi on a four day remand in a case filed in connection with 2013 mayhem in city’s Shapla Chattar area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Mahmoda Akter passed the order after hearing. Kashemi is also a leader of Jamiyate Ulamaye Islam Bangladesh.
Earlier, the investigation officer produced Mufti Monir before the court seeking a ten day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s detective branch arrested Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mufti Monir at a location at Baridhara in capital Dhaka. He was arrested Friday evening, said the metropolitan police’s deputy commissioner (DB) for Gulshan division Moshiur Rahman. He said that Kashemi was an accused in several cases on different allegations, including committing subversive acts.
