HED reconstructing 3-storied building for Shailkupa UZ health complex

Health engineering department (HED) in Jhenaidah has been reconstructing a three storied hospital building for Shailkupa upazila health complex in Jhenaidah. 

The estimated cost of the reconstruction work was Taka 9.90 crore and expected to be handed over by the first week of June this year. 

A single-storied power substation is also been constructed to ensure smooth power supply and management for the health complex.

The three-storied building based on six stories will provide 33 beds including three cabins, 20 beds for the women and children and some other sophisticated facilities, said a source related to HED in Jhenaidah.

The sources said the ground floor will accommodate ultrasonography, X-Ray, emergency room, emergency observation room, minor operation theatre (OT), re-succession room and the room of emergency medical officer (EMO). 

The first floor will accommodate the room for the upazila health and family planning officer (UHFPO), meeting room, resident medical officer (RMO) room, administrative office, accounts, sample collection, laboratory, medical officer maternal and child health (MOMCH), assistant surgeons and bulk store.

The second floor will be used for three patients’ cabins, office of the nursing supervisor, 20 beds for the women and children and 10 male beds.

HED executive engineer in Jhenaidah Zahir Rayhan when contacted said they had started the construction work on July 19 of 2022 and expecting hand over the building before June 3 next. Although the prices of all construction materials went high, they have been trying to maintain the quality for sustainability of the health complex. The newly reconstructed building will improve the service delivery to the patients, HED executive engineer said.
