Heavy rain in Chatmohar, poor people in distress

It has been raining heavily in Chatmohar of Pabna since early morning on Thursday. A foggy weather has been observed in the region in addition to rain. The low-income working people of Chatmohar are suffering due to the effects of winter and rain. When it started raining on Thursday morning, the workers of Chatmohar became jobless for the whole day. Boro planting is also being delayed due to the week-long foggy weather at the end of the winter.

It is learned that at present the agricultural workers were busy in planting Boro saplings in the fields. They are not able to plant Boro saplings from Thursday morning due to rain. Farmers said that they are not able to lift mustard from the field. 

The brick kiln workers have not been able to make raw bricks for about ten days. Due to the rain, the work of construction and mill workers is also stopped. Rickshaw and van drivers could not get out in the street due to the rough weather. Although some of the workers were seen working in the rain in spite of the hostile weather in pursuit of livelihood, most of the workers have become unemployed.

Abde Ali, a construction worker from Jabarkol village of Chatmohar, said that he has to support four people including his wife and children. As the mason's work was stopped due to rain, he went out on the road to drive the van. He can't get rent because there are less people. Although daily necessities are being sold in the open market at four points of Chatmohar municipal headquarters, it is never available again after standing for hours due to scarcity. The price of goods is high. The introduction of OMS activities at the union level will benefit working people and low-income people.

In this regard, the female vice chairman of Chatmohar Upazila Parishad, lecturer Firoza Parveen said that the hostile weather has been going on for several days due to two rounds of rain in the last one week. In this situation, it has become really difficult for the workers to work.
