Heaps of garbage removed under UP chairman’s initiative

Heaps of Garbage kept stacked for years at various spots of Rayenda Bazar under Sarankhola upazila has been removed. Under the initiative of Alhaj Azmal Hossain Mukta, Chairman of Rayenda Union Parishad, the work of removing grabage from roadside using excavators have been completed. The public toilet adjacent to the Badal Chattar has also been cleaned. 

It is learnt, more than 2,000 families live surrounding the one kilometre of Bazar areas of the sadar upazila. Having no Garbage bins or place for disposal of garbage, the garbage of the area is thrown away in various spots of the bazar which causes a serious threat for the environment and the public health. Nearly 6 to 7 months ago, department of Public Health constructed a toilet near Badal Chattar of the Bazar at a cost of Taka 14 lakh. But, due to lack of proper management and stacking of garbages infront of the toilet, it became unfit for use.  The road connecting the Bazar also turned unfit for use because of the garbage and the abominable stench.

People of the locality were demanding to remove the garbages from the area and to make the toilet useable, Chairman Mukta on Wednesday night inaugurated the cleaning operation of the garbages and the toilet through using excavators. Among others, General Secretary of Bazar Committee Alhaj Moniruzzaman Babul Talukder, former UP Member Wadood Akon, Joint Secretary of Upazila Scouts Mijanur Rhman, UP Member Sharif Khairul Islam, Women Member Aklima Begum, Jubo League leader Dalim Talukder and Monir were present during the cleaning operation. 

UP Chairman Azmal Hossain Mukta said, responding to the demand of the people of locality, step has been taken to remove the stacked garbages from Rayenda Bazar areas. He further said, a Butcher House and four dustbins will be constructed in the bazar areas and initiative has been taken to construct a purchase of a vehicle to remove garbages.
