The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has signed a MoU with the medical center of the University of Nebraska, USA for getting cooperation on liver transplant, cancer treatment and patients' safety issues.
This was signed on December 21 following a two-day meeting on health sector cooperation between the university authorities and the health minister Zahid Maleque who is currently visiting USA, the health ministry said.
Chancellor Jeffery P. Gold led the university side. They agreed to have intense discussion soon to finalise modalities of the cooperation based on the MoU. The health minister emphasised the need of advanced training to doctors, nurses, technicians, pathologists, anesthesiologists, and others for liver transplant, cancer treatment and overall patients' safety.
The health minister is leading a delegation of specialised doctors to the USA at the invitation of the University of Nebraska.
Director General for health services Prof ABM Khurshid Alam is also accompanying the minister, among others.
