We just cannot believe or do not want to believe that a teacher can cheat his students. But to everybody’s surprise, this happened. How sad and bad it is when we see a headmaster play foul with some of his students putting their academic life into uncertainty.

A teacher is somebody on whom we have complete trust and belief. He teaches our children with utmost care and sincerity. We also do not have any doubt and question about it.

But we have been stunned to see that a headmaster has deprived some students of taking the ongoing Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.

It is quite normal that the students will get admit cards before any exams. But Aminul Islam, headmaster of Narsingdi Digital Girls’ High School and College, did not provide them with admit cards.

The SSC exams has become a nightmare for six students of Narsingdi Digital Girls’ High School and College as they did not get admit cards from the headmaster of the institution and as a result, they cannot participate in the exams.

Despite paying

registration and other fees amounting

to Tk 10,000 to Tk 15,000,

they (students) cannot

sit for this

year’s SSC exams

Despite paying registration and other fees amounting to Tk 10,000 to Tk 15,000, they (students) cannot sit for this year’s SSC exams that began on Thursday. They were regular students of the school and paid their registration and other fees in time.

At that time, the headmaster informed them that he would give them admit cards before the exams. But, the examinees came to know that their admit cards did not come and even their registrations were not made.

The incident sparked anger among students, parents and locals. Holding the school authority responsible for the irreparable loss, they demanded punishment of those involved in the incident.

Such cheating with students by a headmaster can no way be acceptable.

We cannot accept the loss of a year from their lives due to cheating by the headmaster. The students and their parents phoned the headmaster several times but they could not contact him as his phone was found switched off. Such cheating of headmaster has cast a shadow over academic activities in the country.

We think whoever is involved in the incident shall be punished. Apart from the headmaster, the school authority is also responsible for this irreparable loss.
