The High Court on Wednesday asked the state to inform it the number of deaths caused by dengue this year, by November 11, reports BSS.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order when Deputy Attorney General Kazi Mynul Hasan represented the state in the court. The court came up with the order as authorities of two Dhaka City Corporations submitted their reports on steps taken by the government to check the deadly disease in the capital.

Earlier on August 28, the court had asked the city corporations authorities to submit the reports. The High Court on July 4 issued a suo moto rule, asking the government to take steps on priority basis to destroy dengue virus-borne Aedes mosquitos’ larvae and its breeding grounds.
