The High Court (HC) bench has asked the authorities concerned to submit the inquiry report of the education ministry over the leaked phone conversation between principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Kamrun Nahar Mukul and one Mir Shahabuddin Tipu by August 30.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mustafizur Rahman issued the order on Tuesday (August 10) following a hearing on a writ, which was filed seeking the higher court’s directive to remove the principal from her duty following her viral leaked phone conversation.
The court, however, said that it would issue the order in this regard on September 1 after receiving the investigation report of the education ministry.
During the hearing, the HC bench said that if the language used by Kamrun Nahar Mukul in the telephonic conversation is true, it will be really reprehensible and unexpected. Such language cannot be expected from her.
Advocate Abdullah Al-Harun Bhuiyan appeared in the court for the writ petition, while Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar represented the state.
Earlier on Sunday (August 8), a guardian of two students of the institution named Mohammad Morshed Alam filed the writ petition with the High Court, seeking its directive on the authorities concerned to conduct a departmental inquiry into the alleged conversation between Kamrun Nahar Mukul and Mir Shahabuddin Tipu.
The writ petition, however, sought the High Court’s directive on the authorities concerned to restrain Kamrun Nahar Mukul from discharging responsibility as principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College during the period of inquiry. Kamrun Nahar Mukul, however, has been asked to resign from the post on the charge of moral turpitude.
In the writ petition, Secretary of the Education Ministry, Director General of the Directorate of Education and president of the governing body of the institution were made respondents.
The High Court bench also held hearing on the petition on Monday (August 9) and had said that they wanted to know the authorities’ stance on the principal whose alleged telephonic conversation with a guardians’ representative Mir Shahabuddin Tipu went viral on social media.
During the hearing on Monday, Abdullah Al-Harun Bhuiyan told the court that Kamrun Nahar Mukul has no ethical right to hold the post of principal after her controversial telephonic conversation went viral, as her obscene language will have an adverse impact on the students.
The telephonic conversation between Kamrun Nahar Mukul and Mir Sahabuddin Tipu was leaked on social media on July 26. The principal of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College faced heated criticism after the audio clip went viral on the social media.
The clip is 4 minutes and 39 seconds long and includes an excited female voice where she said, “I can shoot a gun. I used to walk around with a revolver in my bag. I used to tuck a pistol under my pillow.”
Mir Sahabuddin Tipu claimed he is one of the persons of the telephonic conversation. Kamrun Nahar Mukul denied the allegation, saying that it was a deep-rooted conspiracy against her. She, however, said that she talked to the man over telephone, but she did not use slang language.
