The High Court has issued a rule against 14 movies that have received government grants in the financial year 2018-19. The High Court bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Quader passed the order on Wednesday (July 7) at 12:30pm.
Advocate Hasnat Qayyum said the defendants had been asked to respond to the rule over the next four weeks.
The court issued a rule asking why the three-pronged notification in the short-term and full-length branches would not be illegal and why the screenplays should not be revised in accordance with the policy.
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud is the president of the film in the short-term and full-length branches. Hasan Mahmud. Along with this the order has been issued.
Four producers filed a writ petition on July 16 in the High Court seeking review of all filmmaking package proposals. This resulted in the suspension of the declaration of grants for a total of 14 films which violated the grants policy.
Jannatul Ferdous Ivy for the film ‘Khizir Purer Messi’ has received a grant for financial year 2018-19 in the short film category. ‘Mithur Ekator Jatra’ directed by Zahid Sultan and Nasir Uddin. Nazmul Hasan for ‘Rupali Kotha’. Farasht Rizwan’s ‘Shekol Vangar Gaan’ and Ujjal Kumar Mandal for ‘Maina’.
Mir Sabbir for ‘Raat Jaga Ful’ Akram Khan for ‘Bidhobar Kotha’, Hossain Mubarak Rumi for ‘Antoshtikriya’, Mir Sabbir for the film ‘Raat Jaga Ful’ received grants in the full-length film branch in the financial year 2018-19.
Also in the documentary branch, Humaira Bilkis received a government grant for her ‘Bilkis Ebong Bilkis’ and Purvi Matin for his ‘Melaghar’ documentary.
Abu Raihan Mohammed Jewel has received a government grant from the children’s branch for the ‘Noshu Dakat Kupokat’ film.
