The High Court (HC) on Sunday recalled its two orders granting bail to detained contractor Golam Kibria Shamim alias GK Shamim in arms and narcotics cases, reports BSS.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman recalled its order that granted six-month bail to Shamim in arms case this morning.
Another High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty recalled its bail order against the accused in narcotics case.
The news of Shamim’s bail in the two cases came to light yesterday, while the orders were actually passed in early February.
A mobile court of the RAB led by Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam surrounded Shamim’s business office at Niketan and conducted a raid in the afternoon of September 20, 2019.
Shamim, who used to identify himself as a leader of Jubo League, was detained along with his seven bodyguards and around Taka two crore in cash and Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR) of about Taka 165 crore.
Apart from the money, the elite anti-crime force also recovered illegal firearms, ammunition and drugs from Shamim’s office.
