The High Court has postponed the polls of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA), an organisation of manpower exporters, for four weeks. The polls were scheduled to be held on December 11.
The HC bench of Justice Mamnun Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diluruzzaman issued the order on Sunday after hearing a writ petition.
Barrister Akhtar Imam and Barrister Rashna Imam appeared in the court for the writ petition.

The HC bench also issued a ruling, asking to include names of three people in the voter list of BAIRA polls.
Rashna Imam told media that many of the BAIRA members whose names were on the initial voter list have been dropped from the final list. The writ petition was filed seeking High Court’s directive to include their names in the voter list.
She also said that if the elections are held as per the old schedule, names of the 65 new members will be dropped. The writ petition also sought HC’s directive to include them in the voter list. Following the hearing on the writ petition, the court postponed the polls for four weeks. However, the next hearing will be held on November 15, she said.
