The High Court has asked police to arrest two officials of AB Bank Ltd-- AVP of the bank’s head office Aminul Islam and Satkhira branch manager-- within 24 hours. The Gulshan Police Station and Satkhira Sadar Police Station were asked to comply with the order.

The police were also asked to produce the two bank officials before the High Court on June 5.

The HC bench of Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq issued the order on Tuesday following a writ petition, which was filed for not providing a bank statement to a Satkhira based businessman.

Advocate Yarul Islam stood for the writ petitioner in the court, while Deputy Attorney General Waresh Al Haruni represented the state.

Waresh Al Haruni told the media that the High Court asked police to produce the two AB Bank officials before the court on June 5. The court issued the order as Satkhira businessman Safiur Rahman was not given a bank statement regarding the loan despite the court order.

Owner of Satkhira’s Safi Enterprise Md. Safiur Rahman took a loan from AB Bank. He wants a bank statement against the loan. But he was not given a bank statement from the AB Bank. The bank refuses to give bank statement. Safiur Rahman later filed a writ petition in the High Court.

Waresh Al Haruni said. “At one stage of the writ hearing, the High Court on Monday asked me to speak to AB Bank’s head office and the Satkhira branch manager. I informed AVP of the head office Aminul Islam and the manager of Satkhira branch about the court order. I informed them to give a bank statement to businessman Safiur Rahman. Besides, I told AVP Aminul Islam to appear in the court on Tuesday. The petitioner went to the Satkhira branch of AB Bank on Monday to bring the statement. But the authorities concerned did not give it. The court has ordered their arrest for not giving bank statement even after the court order.”
