The High Court has dismissed a 2010 defamation case filed against Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus with the Kotwali police station in Dhaka.
The court issued its ruling on Thursday, following an earlier order on October 24 by a bench led by Justice AKM Asaduzzaman.
In its judgment, the court said that the case was filed with the intention of harassing Dr Yunus, and the plaintiff had misused the legal system for this purpose.
Additionally, the same bench of the High Court dismissed five cases filed against Dr Yunus in the Labour Court, which were pending before the Third Labor Court in Dhaka.
The court observed that the plaintiff had wasted judicial time by filing these cases without following the proper legal procedures, leading to their dismissal
