The relationship between Bangladesh and India is “written with blood” and now it has reached a new height under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The two nations believe Dhaka-New Delhi ties is “rock solid’ based on shared values, principles and confidence, touching almost every sphere of our lives. Very few countries in the world share such close fraternal ties as that of Bangladesh-India.
The Dhaka-Delhi’s partnership today stands out as a role model in the region for good neighbourly relations. We envisage that Friday’s bilateral meeting in New Delhi between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi will help to strengthen the ‘rock-solid’ bonding further.
Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi agreed to take effective steps to strengthen the relationship further. The two sides signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for strengthening bilateral cooperation, including one on cooperation in digital payment mechanisms between the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Bangladesh Bank.
Sheikh Hasina is currently visiting India as its guest country to participate in the G-20 Leaders Summit on 9-10 September 2023. During the bilateral meeting they discussed political and security cooperation. Besides, the two leaders focused on a range of regional issues, including the maintenance of stability in South Asia, and ways to bolster cooperation in areas such as security, trade and energy, people familiar with the matter said.
Over the past few years India and Bangladesh scripted
a golden chapter in partnership under the visionary
leadership
of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her
counterpart Narendra Modi
Indian premier laid emphasis on resolving the outstanding issues between the two countries through talks at the official level. Narendra Modi also expressed his deep gratitude to Sheikh Hasina for her contribution to ensuring the existing peaceful situation in the North Eastern region of his country.
It is good to note that after her successful state visit to New Delhi, India on 04-08 September last year, a lot of visible progress has been achieved in various areas of bilateral interest. We believe that this open discussion between the two prime ministers in a very cordial atmosphere will speed up the settle down of the outstanding issues between the two sides and benefit the people of both the countries.
The Bangladesh-India relationship has seen ‘transformative changes’, reaching a new height with significant achievements through cooperation and collaboration. Over the past few years India and Bangladesh scripted a golden chapter in partnership under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her counterpart Narendra Modi.
Both the nations are enjoying the best of relations. We believe Bangladesh and India would be able to further lift their relations to new heights in the coming days. We have many difficulties in our path but we will surely overcome those through our collaborative efforts.
