The highly acclaimed docu-drama on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina – ‘Hasina – a daughter’s tale’ – will be telecast throughout the day on Friday in various channels.
The Center for Research and Information (CRI) that released the film in 2018 said Independent TV will telecast at 10.50am, while Channel I at 11.30am, ETV at 12pm, BTV and Ekattor TV at 3pm, Bijoy TV at 5pm, Channel 24 at 5.45pm, and ATN News 11pm.
Besides, Masranga TV will telecast at 11am and then will repeat midnight at 12am.
“At its core, the film is the tale of two sisters trying to make sense of the senseless violence which was thrust upon their lives and their long quest for justice for the brutal killings of their family members,” Prime Minister’s special assistant Barrister Shah Ali Farhad said in his facebook post.
The film covers the assassination of Hasina's father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangladesh, along with most of her family member in 1975.
The prime minister and his younger sister – Sheikh Rehana- survived as they were abroad on the fateful night of August 15 in 1975.
“She is the story herself. Her eventful life is the script,” Radwan Mujib Siddiq, grandson of Bangabandhu, last year made the comment during the rescreening of Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale in the capital’s Lit Festival.
Radwan Mujib, son of Sheikh Rehana, is the trustee of the CRI.
In the film the stories of Sheikh Hasina are being narrated in her voice.
“When she (Sheikh Hasina) asked for the script before the creation of this docudrama, I told her that there was no script. She is the story herself. Her eventful life was the script,” Radwan Mujib had said.
“While most historical docudramas in our country are ‘officious’ in tone, Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale stands out in its narrative,” he said last year at the festival.
It took five years of effort to get the visual narrative on screen.
Piplu Khan is the director of the film.
Apart from Bangladesh, the film was also screened at the 10th Jagran Film Festival at New Delhi, at the 40th edition of the Durban International Film Festival in South Africa along with Barcelona Asian Film Festival.
It was also premiered at Australia’s Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) as well.
