Shihab Uddin of Daily Jaijaidin and Hasib Sohel of Bangladesh Post were elected president and general secretary of Jahangirnagar University Press Club (JUPC) respectively for the next one year.
The election was held on Sunday (January 22) at JUPC office at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on the campus.
Prof Dr. Shahedur Rashid of geography and environment department conducted the election as election commissioner while assistant professor Kamrul Hasan of government and politics department, Mridha Md. Shiblee Noman of journalism and media studies department and former secretary of JUPC Khalilur Rahman were the assistant election commissioners. After the election, Prof Shahedur Rashid announced the result.
The other office bearers are- vice-president Musaddekur Rahman of Daily Jugantor, joint secretary Noman Bin Harun of Daily Amader Somoy, treasurer Jubayer Ahmed of Bangladesh Today, office secretary Wajhatul Islam of Bangla Tribune and library secretary Tanvir Ibn Mobarak of Daily Amar Sangbad.
The two executive members are Rahat Chowdhury of Daily Ajkaler Khobor and Md. Sowrov of Daily Amar Barta.
Editor-In-Chief of Bangladesh Sharif Shahab Uddin congratulated Hasib Sohel and elected leaders of Jahangirnagar University Press Club.
