Hasib Aziz promoted to addl IGP

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasib Aziz has been promoted from the rank of BPM DIG to the rank of Additional Inspector General of Police (Additional IGP).

The promotion order was issued in a notification signed by Md. Towhid Bin Hasan, Deputy Secretary of the Senior Recruitment-3 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration, on Sunday.

In the same notification, 11 more DIG-rank officers have been promoted to the post of Additional IGP (Grade-2).

DIG Hasib Aziz took charge as the 33rd Commissioner of CMP on September 5, 2023. He joined CMP from the Detective Training School of the CID.

 The notification of the Ministry of Public Administration said that on May 17, the Chief Advisor approved the promotion of 12 officers based on the recommendations of the 15th meeting of the Superior Selection Board held on May 8.

The notice said that this order issued in the public interest will be effective from the date of joining. The promoted officers will join the Senior Secretary of the Public Security Department through the appropriate authority. They will serve in their respective posts until their next posting.

According to police sources, Hasib Aziz is an officer of the 15th BCS police cadre. He joined the Bangladesh Police on November 15, 1995. In 2002, he served as the Additional Superintendent of Police of Chittagong District Police.

He was born on December 30, 1971 in Safipur Police Station of Shariatpur District. He obtained MCom (1995) from Dhaka University and MA (2005) from Hull University, UK.

Hasib Aziz's village is in Shariatpur district.  His father, M Azizul Haque, was the Inspector General of Police (IGP) from July 22, 1996 to November 16, 1997.
