Lower caste Hindu of Harijan community observed Surya Puja (Puja for the Sun God) beside the river Padma in Rajshahi city on Saturday morning. Hundreds of followers of the Harijan people observed the Puja with various religious culture and functions in front of Munnujan School beside the river Padma.
The devotees offered their prayer seeking satisfaction of the Sun God with flowers, fruits and varieties of offerings. Another part of the puja was the Sun Bath. After completing the formalities of the Puja, all the devotees took bath in the river Padma.
Participants of the Sun God puja informed the Puja is arranged every year from the time immemorial to make the Sun God satisfied so that the God saves them from all diseases, deprivation and for the welfare of the world.
