We extend our heartiest greetings to all the citizens of Bangladesh staying at home and abroad, our valued readers, contributors, writers, patrons and advertisers on the eve of the New Year 2024 in the English calendar.

Another year slips into eternity and a New Year dawns today (Monday). Greeting the rising sun of the New Year, country’s people also want a fresh start.

With the new sunshine, the country will again get back its fresh shape that will touch and encourage people to go ahead. We think this year is very important in our national life.

Bangladesh is going to 12th parliamentary election slated for January 7. Therefore, with only five days left for poll, people get awakened with the spirit of the Great War of Liberation, and they will give a befitting reply with votes to the local and foreign conspiracies being hatched to bring third party to power by disrupting January 7 election.

Apart from Bangladesh, at least 64 countries of the world are also going to polls this year. So, this new year has turned into the Ultimate Election Year

Though the celebration of Bengali New Year has merged with the national culture, the English New Year influences all because of the widespread use of the English calendar in daily activities. We the Bangali nation here on Sunday bade farewell to the outgoing English Year 2023 with a fresh hope that a new sun will rise that will take away all sorrows, pains, and fears from our country and world as well. Perhaps more than anything, 2023 will be remembered for many reasons. The year 2023 was an important milestone in the life of the countrymen.

With new sunshine, the country

will again get back its  fresh

 shape that will touch and

encourage people to go ahead

Bangladesh witnessed a massive development in infrastructures as different mega projects like metro rail, elevated expressway, Bangabandhu tunnel and third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International airport were inaugurated for people in the outgoing year despite BNP-Jamaat atrocity and conspiracy to foil the national poll.

Countrymen continued witnessing the BNP-Jamaat clique plot to come to the power through undemocratic ways throughout the year of 2023. Besides, the Israel-Palestine conflict and Russia-Ukraine war cast a pall of gloom to the global economic activities affecting the lives of the people throughout the year.

Bangladesh has lost number of eminent personalities including educationists, journalists, renowned lawyers, veteran freedom fighters, politicians, noted actors and singer and leading business stalwarts last year. As we pass into a new year, wish we wish all good health, happiness and success.

We hope, the New Year will bring new hopes to the nation's social, political, economic, and cultural areas. Shedding the preceding year’s glooms to oblivion, we believe this day will bring the strength to the national life to uphold the country’s democracy, sovereignty and independence.

We will start the first day of English New Year with the hope of progress of life forgetting all shortcomings and sorrows. On this special occasion, we also wish this fresh year will be blissful one that will be bringing new hopes, opportunities and joy.

After the all odds, diseases, frustration and darkness, people are confident that fresh lives will start to come out again. Let the dead past bury its dead and start the day in fresh spirits,  people touched by new sunshine also expressed their firm  determination to turn around and overcome all odds or hurdles in the days to come.

Amid destruction and darkness almost throughout the year of 2023, new life starts to come out again and the country looks forward with fresh hope and aspirations. We believe everything in our country will give an impression of freshness as Bangladesh is set to go for national poll.

Therefore, all believe that the election commission (EC) and administration will play responsible role with courage and sincerity to hold next national election in a free, fair and credible manner following the Constitutional rules and regulations.
