The musician won the Ekushey Padak in 1984, the Swadhinata Puraskar in 1996 and a maximum of 14 National Film Awards. She won the first National Film Award for singing in the movie ‘Sujan Sakhi’ directed by Promodkar (pseudonym of Khan Ataur Rahman) in 1975.
