With 11 kilometers of approximate length, Mohammad Hanif Flyover of capital Dhaka is the longest flyover in Bangladesh. It connects Dhaka with at least 30 districts and successfully contributes easing traffic congestion at the capital’s entrance and exit points of the city’s Eastern part. Starting from Palashi, the flyover ended at Kutubkhali. As a result, inter-district buses could easily cross Sayedabad, Jatrabari and Demra, where once vehicles had to wait for hours in traffic jam. Now they are able to cross such roads within 10 to 15 minutes.
With such advantages of faster communications, people of the country are now confident enough that the government will be able to complete all the development works successfully to make the city livable and congestion free. City dwellers opined that as the flyover has eight entries and exits ramps at major junctions for smooth flow of traffic. Implementing similar kind of flyover, other parts of the city will help to ensure smooth movement and increase the working hours of the city dwellers.
According to flyover authority, a dedicated team comprising more than 350 persons and "state of art" equipment’s are geared up to offer quick and easy passages through the toll plaza and ensure comfortable and safe riding. The flyover has been constructed over Saidabad railroad level crossing in Dhaka city to mitigate traffic congestion, enhance mobility, ensure safety and provide a sustainable smooth flow of vehicles along the flyover corridor of Saidabad-Jatrabari-Gulistan area.
