Police have recovered the hanging body of a woman from Saraskathi village in Monirampur upazila of Jashore on Sunday morning (January 17).
The deceased was identified as Samapti Khatun, 19, daughter of Mofijur Rahman of the upazila. She was married three years ago. A year and a half ago, she left her husband and returned to her father's house.
SI Golam Rasul, in-charge of Khedapara police camp, said that after offering Fazr prayers, Samapti entered her bed room.
After not getting response from her daughter for a long time, her father broke down the door at around 7.30 am and saw wrapping her scarf around her neck. She was rushed to Jhikargachha Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
After receiving the news, Jhikargachha police recovered the body and sent it to the Jashore general hospital morgue for autopsy.
SI Rasul said, 'The reason for the suicide was not known. However, It will be known after the autopsy report whether it is murder or not.
