Hanging body of Indian worker recovered at Rampal power plant

The hanging body of an Indian worker named Prabhat Kumar Singh, 37, was recovered from a thermal power plant under construction at Rampal in Bagerhat on Monday afternoon.

Police recovered the body from a bamboo bridge inside the power plant and later sent the body to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue.

Prabhat Kumar Singh is the son of Kumar Singh, a native of Bahmani village under Gurudaspur police station in Punjab of India.

Rampal police station officer-in-charge Md. Manjurul Alam said, "After the autopsy, the body will be kept in Khulna Medical College Hospital cold storage and will be handed over to his family after contacting the Indian Embassy. An unnatural death case has been filed with Rampal police station in this incident”.

Rezaul Karim, Deputy Project director of Rampal Thermal Power Station said, “Workers saw Prabhat Singh's body hanging with a bamboo bridge near the barracks on Monday morning”.

He added, “Prabhat came to the thermal power plant on August 18 as a worker of a contractor company named Indoyen. However, we do not know the reason for his suicide”.
