Like other foreign countries across the globe, the World Wildlife Day was also observed in Bangladesh on Thursday, aiming to create awareness about endangered animals and plants. It is alarming to note that more wild animal species will go extinct due to various threats including poaching, habitat loss and overuse of natural resources. Besides, depletion of the biodiversity everyday is also threatening wildlife. If this trend continues, they will be disappearing fast from the country’s forests and jungles in near future.

The government should take necessary steps to enumerate

the wild animals in our forests that are threatened by

climate change, poaching and habitat loss

Many species of wild animal are on the endangered list as country’s forest lands are constantly shrinking. It has been noticed that a section of dishonest people along with local influential  have been cutting down forests, trees and hills and polluting rivers in many ways which are destroying the places where animals used to live and drink water. Killing and trafficking of wild animals and deforestation continue under the very nose of the authorities concerned every day. Therefore, without conserving forests and bringing the culprits under punishment, we will not be able to protect wildlife.

Wild animals should be protected and wildlife trapping, killing and hunting should be stopped alongside ensuring their food security. The wild animals are supposed to live in forest but when their habitats are grabbed by people, how they will survive there. The destruction of wildlife has also reduced the distance between humans and the wild creatures or animals.

Wild animals have to be conserved in order to protect our ecosystem. The government should take necessary steps to conduct wildlife census to enumerate the wild animals in our forests that are threatened by climate change, poaching and habitat loss.
