Half Marathon on birth centenary of Bangabandhu arranged at JU

The teacher and students of Jahangirnagar University run in a Marathon to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.The Half Marathon (23.5 km) at Jahangirnagar University. The half marathon (23.5 km ) was held on campus on Friday (January 5th) on the return home of Bangabandhu. 

Former and current students, teachers, and officials of the university participated in the marathon. In the competition, Mahfuzul Haque, a student of the Institute of Information Technology finished first, Rakibul Islam from the Pharmacy Department and Russell Mahmud from Physics Department jointly finished second and Dipankar Bhumik of the Institute of Business Administration won third place.

Among women, Rupashri Hajang of Fine Arts finished first, Afriyatul Paradise of Philosophy department second and Sumaiya Shampa won third place.  After the Marathon, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Farzana Islam presented the prize to the winners at 11 pm.

Among others,Por-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Nurul Alam, Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md. Manjurul Haque, acting registrar Rahima Kaniz and teachers from different departments were present.  Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the marathon competition at the university's Shaheed Minar premises at 6am.
