Sensing defeat in the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections, Abdul Kader Azad (AK Azad), independent candidate for Faridpur-3 (Sadar) constituency, is spreading falsehood against other candidates and destroying the poll atmosphere in the constituency.
Local people called on the law enforcement agencies and the institutions involved with the election work to take action against AK Azad for spreading propaganda over the national polls slated for January 7.
Recently, Faridpur district Awami League (AL) held a press conference at Faridpur Press Club to protest the falsehood of AK Azad and his supporters against AL candidate Shamim Haque who is also contesting for Faridpur-3 seat.
At the press conference, Shamim Haque, who is also the president of Faridpur district AL said that seeing huge public support for ‘Boat’, AK Azad is spreading propaganda against him (Shamim) in his own media.
AK Azad, Managing Director of Ha-Meem Group, is contesting the election for Faridpur-3 seat with poll symbol ‘Eagle’
Shamim alleged that AK Azad is trying to defame him by falsely calling him a terrorist without providing any evidence as part of his evil design.
“Ruhul Sheikh, a supporter of AL candidate Shamim Haque, was beaten up allegedly by the supporters of AK Azad, while he was pasting posters at Ishan Gopalpur Union as part of the electoral campaign” he said.
“AK Azad’s men attacked the AL leaders and supporters and also put the blame on them for the criminal act,’ Shamim alleged.
He said that AK Azad and his supporters are destroying the election environment in the constituency by spreading propaganda and rumours.
Shamim strongly condemned the incident and demanded a fair investigation into incident.
He also said AK Azad has been giving provocative speeches at election campaigns, which is a fragrant violation of electoral code of conduct.
Local people said AK Azad’s men have also been obstructing poll campaign of other candidates in the constituency through intimidation and falsehood.
People in the Faridpur-3 constituency demanded cancelation of AK Azad’s candidature for the sake of free, fair and peaceful election.
