Prominent poet Gultekin Khan, also the ex-wife of late renowned author Humayun Ahmed, recently married with poet Aftab Ahmad, who is also an additional secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Gultekin started second conjugal life after 16 years of her divorce with Humayun Ahmed in 2003. She is now 56 years old. Poet Aftab also married for the second time after he had divorced his first wife 10 years ago.
The couple completed the legal formalities in a private gathering of family and friends recently, the family members said.
Gultekin was first married to popular Bangladeshi author Humayun Ahmen in 1973. Gultekin and Humayun Ahmed divorced each other as Humayun Ahmed decided to marry actress Meher Afroz Shawon.
Gultekin has been a friend to Aftab Ahmad for a long time. Aftab, known for his writings and poetry, is the son of veteran actress late Ayesha Akhter. Aftab is a former student of English literature at the University of Dhaka. His first wife is staying in London with their only child.
Gultekin recently posted a poem on her facebook wall celebrating Aftab's birthday on 2 August that created quite a stir among the well-wishers and fans.
